CMA decision on freelance pay collusion

Your right to claim compensation

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has found that four major broadcasters—BBC, ITV, BT and IMG—colluded illegally by sharing confidential information on freelance pay rates, in breach of UK competition law. This unlawful conduct affected hundreds, potentially thousands, of freelance professionals across the broadcasting industry.

What this means for you

If you were engaged as a freelancer in the relevant period, you may have been underpaid as a result of this unlawful coordination between broadcasters. You could have a valid claim for compensation.
