The specialist asbestos claims team at Hugh James have been instructed to pursue a civil compensation claim on behalf of Mr Terrence Belcher, from Essex.
Terrence, better known as ‘Terry’ Belcher was diagnosed with mesothelioma in February 2021. Terry worked in the construction and manufacturing industry and had jobs in several different companies throughout his career. In particular, Terry worked as a labourer at B Finch & Co Ltd from 1964-65, a company that specialised in making fireplaces. We know that asbestos was used in the manufacture of fireplaces at the time as an insulation material and Terry’s role included helping to mix up concrete, which also often contained asbestos in those days.
Unfortunately, Terry was only 18 at the time he worked for B Finch & Co, so his memories are hazy about his short period employment.
We are therefore looking for any former colleagues who can confirm how exposure arose at the time and ideally anyone who worked for B Finch & Co at the same time as Terry.
