If you wish to refer a personal injury or clinical negligence matter and receive a fee share, please follow the recommendation procedure in place of this form. Details of our recommendation procedure can be found in the ‘Welcome pack’ you would have received when you joined the Network, please contact us if you would like a new copy of this.
About the fee share
Please explain to your client that your firm is unable to assist on this occasion, but that your firm is a member of Legal Network, a legal referral and support network for law firms run by Hugh James. Please obtain confirmation that you can pass their details to us and tell them that if Hugh James are unable to assist, an alternative firm may be in touch. Disclose the fee sharing to the client either verbally or by email/letter: ‘We have a financial arrangement with Hugh James which means if they take the matter on, they may share their fees with us. There is absolutely no additional cost to you’.
If the fee sharing is disclosed verbally, we recommend following up the referral with an email/letter which also outlines the fee sharing. Generally, the fees you may receive are 5% of our Hugh James base costs, save for multi-track personal injury which is 7.5% and 10% on clinical negligence matters. For full details on our fee sharing arrangements please refer to the Terms & Conditions you would have received on joining the network.
