Mr Tony Atwood sadly passed away in January 2022.
Tony’s widow has instructed specialist industrial disease lawyers at Hugh James to investigate how Tony’s employment at the Caerphilly Tar Plant may have contributed to his Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and Chronic Bronchitis (CB) diagnosis.
Tony worked at the Tar Plant for around 34 years between 1961 and 1985.
It is understood that Tony was working in conditions exposing him to pitch and tar related products from the distillation process during his career as a naphthalene operator at Caerphilly Tar Plant for over 34 years.
It is understood that as a result of Tony’s exposure to the pitch and tar related products at the Tar Plant he suffered from COPD and CB.
Tony’s family have now launched an appeal to try and trace former colleagues of Tony in the hope they can provide further information about the work he undertook and the conditions whilst undertaking that work.
Tony’s family are keen to hear from any of his former colleagues from the Caerphilly Tar Plant about the work he carried out and the working conditions in which he was employed.
