Liam’s story

Liam Bradley was 31 when he was diagnosed with mesothelioma. At the time of writing, he has three young children all of whom are under 10 years of age. Following Liam’s diagnosis with mesothelioma he contacted a firm of solicitors who following initial investigations declined to take on his claim. Subsequently Liam instructed Hugh James to investigate his claim in 2019. A detailed witness statement was taken from Liam, and it was identified that he had suffered low level asbestos exposure whilst working as a roofer between 2005 and 2011. Medical evidence was obtained to support the position that the time between exposure and diagnosis (the latency period) was sufficient. Detailed engineering evidence in support of the claim was obtained and court proceedings were issued and a fast-track court timetable enacted. At a joint settlement meeting in early 2022 the claim resolved for £750,000 plus provision that the defendant would fund any private medical treatment required by Liam in the future.
