Settlement highlights
- A Motor Insurers’ Bureau claim arising from an accident involving an untraced driver in which settlement was secured with a capitalised value of over £6million, comprising a lump sum payment of £2.69million and indexed annual periodical payments rising to over £150,000.00 per annum from the age of 70;
- Settlement of a spinal injury claim in the net sum of £4.495million arising from a road traffic accident, equating to a gross settlement of nearly £6million on a full liability basis. Settlement was achieved within 2.5 years from the date of injury and the claimant was not precluded from the use of statutory funding in the future.
- Settlement of a traumatic brain injury claim for a protected party in the sum of £2.25million gross, approved by the court. The case involved a very difficult scenario on liability, in which the claimant will have appeared to many to have been at fault for the accident but where evidence was gathered that enabled the claimant to recover one third.
- Settlement of a claim involving polytrauma injuries in the sum of £1.2million arising from a motorcycle accident. Liability was disputed and the claimant was prosecuted in relation to motoring offences following the accident but nonetheless Jonathan secured a sizeable award that enabled the claimant to buy his own home for first time in his life.
