The Military team at Hugh James has a long-established tradition of supporting military and veterans’ charities. On Friday 10 November, the team, along with Kevin McCarthy from Medical Legal Appointments, completed an 11-mile remembrance walk, in support of the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
The walk took the team around historical locations in the Merthyr area, along the Taff Fechan trail to the countryside villages of Pontsarn and Pontsticill in the Brecon Beacons National Park and looping back around to Merthyr. Fortunately, despite an early morning downpour, the weather improved and much of the walk took place in glorious Welsh sunshine!
With Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday taking place in the days following the walk, this was an apt time to support the Poppy Appeal. The Poppy Appeal was founded to help service personnel and veterans, should the need arise. Right now, they are helping those who are isolated from family, facing homelessness, struggling to feed their children and are in financial crisis. They work tirelessly to ensure that those who have served are being supported despite the challenges they may face.
Our Military team continues to provide legal services to veterans and service personnel who require advice on a range of military service legal issues. In our day-to-day work, we hear personal stories of the difficulties and challenges service personnel and veterans encounter, whether it be through an injury sustained or their experience of the transition from military to civilian life.
The charity walk raised £358.00 for the Royal British Legion and the team would like to extend a big thank you to all those who donated.
Should you wish to, you can still donate to the Royal British Legion via our fundraising page. Any donations are greatly appreciated.
