Andrew joined Hugh James in April 2021 and is a Partner in the Specialist Asbestos team, based in Plymouth. Andrew has acted for those suffering from asbestos related diseases exclusively for the last 13 years.
Due to Andrew’s location in Plymouth, he has extensive knowledge of the exposures to asbestos at Devonport Royal Dockyard and has represented many clients who were employed there.
Some of Andrew’s recent cases includes:
- Acting for a dockyard worker suffering from mesothelioma, securing a £350,000 settlement plus indemnity for future treatment. The case settled 2 months before trial
- Acting for a widow of a dockyard worker who sadly died from mesothelioma, securing £270,000 in compensation
- Acting for a former employee of A&P Falmouth who was suffering from asbestosis, securing £270,000 in compensation
Andrew also works very closely with SWASAG (Southwest Asbestos Support Awareness Group) and has assisted with the formation of the charity.

Work history
Andrew started working with Bond Pearce in 2003 where he qualified as a Legal Executive in 20018. Andrew then joined Thompsons Law in 2010 and was responsible for all asbestos claims in the Southwest of England and provided training to the unions on the subject of asbestos. In 2014, Andrew joined Novum Law where is qualified as a solicitor in 2015. He then progressed to a Senior Associate before becoming a director of the firm.
