Alex is a Partner within the Dispute Resolution team and leads the Insolvency team. Alex has over 20 years of experience in this practice area, acting for a range of clients including insolvency practitioners, lenders, and business professionals. He has particular expertise in both contentious and non-contentious insolvency work. Alex also handles mainstream litigation work, which usually relates to commercial disputes.
On the insolvency side, Alex specialises in dealing with administrations, liquidations and bankruptcies. He acts for a number of well-known insolvency practitioner firms including Mazars LLP, Menzies LLP, Begbies-Traynor LLP, and Quantuma LLP. He also acts for a number of smaller insolvency practitioner firms located in both England and Wales. Alex has also developed particular expertise in dealing with insolvent probate estates.
Alex’s longstanding and well-regarded reputation in the insolvency and finance litigation sector, particularly in South Wales has not only resulted in the firm now handling a wide range of insolvency related work but has also served to ensure a co-ordinated response to insolvency matters usually involving a range of disciplines.
In relation to mainstream commercial litigation, Alex acts for a range of corporate clients, public bodies and high net worth individuals.
Work history
Alex joined Hugh James in 2016 as a partner in the dispute resolution team.
Alex qualified in 1985 and built a strong contentious finance background acting mainly for banks in London. Off the back of this work, Alex developed his expertise in insolvency related matters, acting for clients through the changing economic climate.
Alex is a member of R3, the Association of Business Recovery Professionals. All R3 members are acknowledged as experienced and qualified professionals regulated by a recognised professional body.
