Every year, at Hugh James, we support the Injury Board Day of Action. It’s a collaborative effort by members of the Injury Board, who are leading lawyers throughout the United States and United Kingdom, working with countless charities in support of good causes.
The annual Day of Action campaigns to support individuals who have suffered catastrophic injuries and who may need assistance with things that are often taken for granted day-to-day.
In previous years, we have donated home automation kits to the NHS to help patients at a number of hospitals in Cardiff with their neuro-rehabilitation. Last year, we gifted video conferencing units to hospitals and care homes across the UK, to help make it easier for residents to connect with their loved ones during the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown.
This year’s campaign takes place on 21 October and is built around the theme – ‘The Community Resource Project.’ Its aim is to build a community resource kit by helping local restaurants stay open; supporting medical service providers and providing an hour (or more) of pro bono legal (or other professional) support to medical professionals.
This year, lawyers from our Catastrophic Injury, Asbestos and Travel Litigation teams delivered training to nurses in Liverpool on Wednesday 20 October. They also provided the nurses with restaurant vouchers as a thank you for all the support they’ve been giving to the community throughout COVID. The restaurant vouchers will, in turn, support local businesses in the area, who have been struggling due to the economic impacts of the pandemic and lockdown.

“We know that COVID isn’t over yet, and the ramifications of the pandemic will continue to affect our community for quite some time. We want to play our part, however small, in helping local businesses and the amazing clinical teams who have been working tirelessly for so long. Everyone was hit hard the pandemic, and in many locations, the economic and stability issues continue. By lending our support, through the Injury Board Day of Action, we hope to provide some assistance to those in our communities who need to keep moving forward.”
