Peter Evans is a Partner at Hugh James. Peter specialises
in disease litigation, health and safety, personal
injury, funding and regulation.
Peter has been a Deputy District Judge for over 10 years and was
a lead solicitor in the largest personal injury trial in British
legal history (Miners Respiratory - 115 days). Peter was
responsible for the medical causation issues in the British Coal
respiratory disease litigation which involved coordinating a team
of 8 experts in epidemiology, medicine and medical statistics. He
agreed the special damages in the case for 5 of the 8 lead
plaintiffs and, with Gareth Morgan (Partner at Hugh James) and 2
other solicitors, negotiated with the DTI handling agreement which
will compensate up to 100,000 men and families at a total cost
estimated at £3 billion.
Peter, along with Andrew Harding (Partner at Hugh James),
also represented the 117 Gerona Air crash victims. He has been
responsible for over a dozen major group actions.
Peter is also an accredited mediator.
