Hugh James hires new
Head of Banking and Finance
Despite a particularly
difficult year for the banking/finance market, leading Welsh law
firm Hugh James has underlined its commitment to this market by
recruiting City lawyer Dominic Marshall as a partner and Head of
Banking and Finance. Dominic - who was previously a partner
at London firm Kingsley Napley - will add further strength in depth
to Hugh James's successful banking/finance team, which acted on
matters with a value of more than £210 million during 2009.
Dominic's arrival will ensure the firm is well positioned to meet
the increasing demand as lending activity escalates with the
economy moving out of recession. Dominic will work from Hugh
James's Cardiff and London offices.
Hugh James's
banking/finance team has maintained a strong flow of work despite
the difficult economic climate and has, through its London office,
gained investment banks Wells Fargo, Wachovia and Fortis as new
clients. Dominic will help to develop the firm’s existing
relationships and will use his considerable experience advising
global financial institutions to expand the firm’s already
impressive portfolio of clients. He will also oversee the
firm's banking/finance team, which includes fellow partners Robert
Morgan and Christopher Agius.
Dominic brings with him
considerable expertise of the banking/finance sector, having
advised on significant lending facilities while at leading firms
Eversheds and Kingsley Napley and on secondment to Barclays
Capital. He has broad experience in advising lenders,
investors and borrowers on matters including syndicated debt,
leveraged buy-outs, real estate finance, asset finance and
development/acquisition finance.
Speaking ahead of
Dominic's arrival, Hugh James's managing partner Matthew Tossell
said: “I am delighted to welcome Dominic to Hugh James and I am
sure he will be instrumental in the development and further growth
of the commercial side of our business. His recruitment is a clear
indication of our ambition to expand in the banking/finance sector
and a measure of the strength of our reputation not just in Wales
but across the UK."
New head of banking and
finance Dominic said: “I am very excited at the prospect of joining
an established and successful team that has made great progress in
recent years. They have fantastic relationships with leading
financial institutions and borrowers and I am confident that my
experience will help the team to go from strength to strength."
