Housing Law Conference 2009
Wednesday 4 November, The Village Hotel
Cardiff
Over 100 Social Housing
professionals gathered for the Hugh James Housing Law Conference on
Wednesday 4 November 2009 at the Village Hotel, Cardiff.
The annual event, now in
it’s ninth year, has established itself as a leading event in the
social housing calendar and aims to keep housing management
professionals abreast of the latest legal developments within the
sector.
Hugh James speakers Neil
Morgan, Rebecca Rees and Jamie Saunders were joined by Assistant
Chief Constable Colette Paul and District Judge John Doel. Steve
Povey of Shelter Wales was invited to join the speakers for the
Question & Answer Panel.
The conference speakers
provided practical guidelines on issues that Housing Management
Staff are often called to deal with including anti-social
behaviour, effective information sharing, abandoned properties,
vulnerable tenants, evidence in court and appeals, witness
statements and unfair tenancy terms.
Delegates were also
provided the opportunity to ask the speakers questions relating to
the topical issues raised throughout the day. The Q & A session
gave the delegates an excellent chance to share experiences and to
gain powerful insight from the panel experts.
Hugh James’ Head of
Property Dispute Resolution and Social Housing Team, Partner Neil
Morgan said:
“The Housing Law
Conference continues to provide an essential training updates for
housing professionals in such a fast moving area of the law. The
team and I have enjoyed welcoming new faces to the conference
together with the many delegates who, over the years, have been
regular attendees.”
Delegates described the
event as “a must for all practitioners to attend, an invaluable
resource to keep us up to date with our legal
responsibilities.”
